The count down is certainly on now for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Here at Fuschia we got into the spirit of the games last week by going to the Reading Madjeski Football Stadium to see the torch relay.
It was a really good event, tickets were free but were limited and had to be booked in advanced. There was a great family atmosphere with music and entertainment for the build up of the torch.
Sponsors were there giving out free gifts. Our favourite was the coca cola drums we all got and was great to keep little Mason amused! We were gutted though as Coco Cola also were giving out free coke bottles which were limited edition and couldn’t be bought. These had been designed especially for the torch relays. But we were lucky enough to be given an empty one to add to our coke bottle collection!!
If this wasn’t enough excitement we went to see the torch the following day run through were we grew up near Tilehurst Reading. The torch was carried along Bath Road in Reading. It was such a great experience as lots of people turned out. The police drove through before the sposnors and the torch and greeted us with waves and honking horns.
We loved the carnival feel that the sponsors put on with Coca cola, Samsung and TSB. When their vehicles went past, music was playing and people dancing it really made it exciting as we weren’t expecting to see this.
We were then given the heads up the torch was after the next bus and it wasn’t a disappointment. To actually see the torch and be that close it was really special and something to definitely remember.
So that was our pre London 2012 experience, we are now counting the days down as we have ticket for the Paralympic Games. We are seeing Equestian, Swimming, Basketball and Athletcis so were keep you posted after our sporting weekend!
p.s: Don’t forget the opening Olympic Ceremony is Friday 27th July and will be on TV for us all to watch and join in the celebrations. So get party planning!
