Jubilations Over the Bank Holiday Weekend

Wow!  What a weekend of celebrations, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee certainly didn’t disappoint, well accept for the weather!!!

Sunday morning we decided to pack the hats, gloves and macs after watching the breakfast tv and we were so glad we did….we got drenched!!! But it was all worth while to get the glimpse of the Royal Boat and family onboard and all the wonderful boats that followed.  Everyone had gone to so much effort, it was so lovely to go out and support them.

Monday, was a much drier and warmer affair with a Jubilee family BBQ.  The conversatory and garden was decked with bunting, there wasn’t a surface untouched without a splash of red, white and blue!

Union Jack fabric and throws draped over chairs to look like they have been upholstered, chair covers bowed in navy and pillar box red, and even little Mason had his hi chair decorated – your never to young to celebrate at Fuschia!   The table just oozed with decor and the centre piece; a cluster of balloons with of course the Union Jack really set the theme for the afternoon of Jubilee celebrations.

Table cloths, cups, themed glassware, triva scratch cards, windmills, napkins, chocolate lollies were all part of making the BBQ that little bit more special and British.

We all bought each other jubilee gifts, which was fun seeing if we had found something different than someone else!  These included union jack socks, official magazine & stamps, blue, red and white M&M’s, The Queen DVD, kitchen roll with teapots and the union jack flag on and of course a mug to drink our English cups of tea from with a chocolate crispy cake on our royal cake stands!

We had such a great day, the BBQ was followed by Fuschia family fun, more eating, drinking and watching the live coverage on the box.  There were so many great moments but some of our favourites were the concert on Monday night and the Royal procession down the Mall on the Tuesday afternoon.  Finally how could we not mention the balcony wave and of course the stunning fly by.

I must say it made us feel very proud to be British and reminded us we are so lucky to live in such a fantastic country.  Oh and how much Fuschia love to party!!

God Save the Queen!

The Jubilee Weekend is Here!!!

Flags up for the Jubilee Celebrations in Oxford Street, London.

As you know here at Fuschia we love a celebration so we are really looking forward to the long bank holiday weekend and will be closed for this period!

We would love to know what you are doing to celebrate, so let us know and send in some images so we can post a blog up.  Email:

We have a couple of  exciting things planned.  Our local town, Wokingham is having a Jubilee lunch where you can go and buy lunch at local restaurants and various entertainments have been arranged throughout the day to make it a real family event so that will be fun and nice to support the local community.

Then on the Sunday we are heading up to the Thames to see the Royal Diamond Jubilee Pageant, check out the details here and join in, its just a train ride away and pack a picnic!

Don’t forget for those sticky fingers your napkins, but if you can’t get any royal themed ones as they have sold out look out for the Jubilee Kitchen roll themed with bunting and teapots from Thirst Pockets !

Then to end our celebrations we are have a BBQ with the family on the Monday which will be great.  Our youngest member Mason, of eighteen months is now walking and loves holding flags so he will be joining in the celebrations!  And of course the BBQ will not be complete without bunting and themed products Royal Britainnia style.

Have a fantastic Jubilee Celebration and get involved, these occasions don’t happen very often and it is something to enjoy with friends and family and remember in years to come.

Happy Queen’s Diamond Jubilee From all of us at Fuschia!

It’s now over one year since we were all excited about the Royal Wedding and now fast approaching this bank holiday weekend we have the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration.

We thought we would share with you a fantastic way to get the most stunning and beautiful wedding cake by the lady responsible for the Royal Wedding Cake last Year.

Fuschia last year visited the exhibition at Buckingham Palace and saw a copy of the cake, the detail was amazing and really quite incredible to think this was all hand made.

Fiona Cairns has partnered with WaitroseEntertaining to produce a mixture of cakes for all styles and budgets.  From boldly modern and delicately romantic to timelessly traditional there is something for everyone.

You can pick up a lovely brochure which shows all the different styles and sizes available with price bands.

Cadburys Biscuits – Celebrate the Queens Jubilee in chocolate style

With the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee fast approaching in June we will now start to see lots of memorable products in the shops to celebrate this special occasion.

We were really excited to find out that Cadbury Biscuits have launched a limited edition Jubilee range of collectable biscuit tins, cartons and special Jubilee cadbury’s dairy milk!

They are available in supermarkets now.  Prices start from £1.80.

We never need an excuse to have a chocolate biscuit or a bar of chocolate but this occasion certainly causes to stock up on a few.  You can choose from vintage inspired Cadburys Fingers Assortment carton or one of our favourites is the Purple, red and white round tin, which we have at the Fuschia studio should we need a chocolate fix!

What’s great about the tins as they can be reused after you Jubilee celebration or street party.

As these are limited edition products get them when you see them as they will be gone as quick as you can eat a chocolate finger!

If chocolate assortments are more your thing then these fun Cadburys London bus tins filled with Cadburys heroes are perfect for sharing at a street party or giving  as a Jubilee gift.  These would also be great to use for the rest of the year for the sporting events of 2012; if you have any left that is!

Jubilee Gin Cocktails – celebrate in style

Maybe you are holding a drinks party or gathering to celebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee next month, if so have you decided what drinks you would like to indulge in for the Jubilee celebration?

Why not make Jubilee cocktails.  Waitrose has bought out a great receipe sheet for making celebration cocktails with Bloom Gin.

Our Waitrose favourite is a Bloom Bellini and you will need:

  • 25ml Bloom Premium London Dry Gin
  • 10ml peach juice such as Funkin Puree White Peach Bellini Cocktail Mixer or Granini Peach Juice.
  • SanLeo Prosecco Brut NV Italy, sparkling Wine Prosecco, to top up

How to make:

  • Shake together the gin and peach juice with ice in a cocktail shaker.
  • Pour into open glasses.
  • Top with the Prosecco and serve.

All the ingredients required and recipe cards can be found at all Waitrose stores.

We also found an interesting piece on Bloom Gin which can be found at
